Fifty years ago, most Americans would have laughed at the idea of any state or region seceding, calling it the talk of a radical or a crackpot sadly out of touch with reality. A wave of unrest is washing over the United States. Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated by Big Government at the federal, state and even city level, and they’re seeking a return to smaller jurisdictions. In the last year or so, we’ve seen:

  • Actual secession votes in California and Colorado.
  • More than 125,700 Texans have signed a petition to have the Lone Star state drop out of America.
  • Thousands more have signed petitions in Maryland, Arizona, and Michigan aruging for secession.
  • Wisconsin Republicans came close to voting on a secession plan this spring.
  • We've seen communities trying to break away from bigger cities, such as Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Caribou, Maine

The vision that “smaller is better” speaks to the groups who have been marginalized, take advantage of and forgotten. A sense of unity has shifted to smaller groups in hopes of having their needs met at long last. And it’s not just happened within the United States.

This drama is playing across the global stage as well:

  • Scotland votes on September 18 to determine if it is to become an independent nation again.
  • Veneto, Italy held an unofficial vote in March 2014, in which 86% of the votes side with independence from Italy.
  • Catalonia, Spain will vote on November 9 on independence, though the government vows to block the vote
  • Crimea, Ukraine voted to secede back to Russia, though questions remain regarding the vote's legitimacy.

The world is changing on a national and a global scale. And you need to be prepared.

A deep-seated anger is welling up across our nation. Americans are angry that government has become so large and so ineffectual. Americans feel disconnected from government — and when that happens, the glue that binds us to our country and our state weakens and we’re far more willing to vote for something radical, such as … independence.

When this crisis hits our nation, most Americans will be caught by surprise.
